HWAPAN Holds AGM, Unveils Bye-Law and Constitution, Adjusts Sachet Water Price

The Hygienic Water Producers Association of Nigeria (HWAPAN) Lagos State chapter held its Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Wednesday, November 27, 2025, to review activities, tackle challenges, and set the course for the association’s future.

Key Highlights:

  • Leadership and Welcome: Rev. Ebere Ibeawuchi, Lagos State Chairman, welcomed members and acknowledged the challenges facing water producers, including regulatory hurdles and market pressures. He emphasized collective action as the path forward.
  • Price Adjustment: Due to rising production costs and multiple taxation issues, members agreed to set the price of a bag of sachet water at ₦400, ensuring sustainability for producers.
  • Regulatory Engagement: The association continues active collaboration with the Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON) and NAFDAC to streamline operations and reduce tensions with regulatory bodies.
  • Bye-Law and Constitution: The AGM saw the unanimous adoption of the Lagos State bye-law and the national constitution of HWAPAN. These documents aim to strengthen organizational structure, protect members’ rights, and enhance accountability. The bye-law took effect on November 26, 2025.
  • Awards: Fourteen managing directors and CEOs were honoured for their service and contributions to the growth of HWAPAN, receiving recognition as matrons and patrons.

The AGM reinforced HWAPAN’s commitment to providing hygienic water across Lagos while ensuring a strong, organized, and resilient association.
